The allure of ‘Majestic' Emei Mountain,
as it is commonly known, keeps visitors consistently streaming to tiny Baoguo
village. Emei Mountain
is renowned throughout China
as one of the most important Buddhist mountains and rightfully so. Rising above
10000 feet (3000 meters) only two hours from the plains of Chengdu, its peak offers one of the most
breathtaking views in the world. Moreover, the endless steps leading to the
peak include pesky local monkeys and tranquil temples and monasteries which
should make for a few more indelible memories along the way. A quick drive
south of the bustling, stuffy big city, the thin, yet fresh air at Emei feels a
world apart from Chengdu.
