Sichuan Opera
Sichuan Opera is one of the major schools of Chinese opera and has a history dating back over 350 years to the end of the Ming Dynasty. It contains a repertoire of thousands of plays, with its comedies being the most widely recognized and revered for their local flavor, vivid acting and stunts such as face changing, sword hiding, fire-spitting and beard-changing.

In recent years, a number of Sichuan Opera plays have received praise and recognition, including the Hibiscus Fairy, Good Man from Sichuan, Shangangye, Haojunmei and Princess Wencheng, each of which has won a national prize. Enjoy an evening of classical Sichuanese entertainment when in Chengdu.
