Located in northern Sichuan, Huanglong National Park is one of China’s most impressive scenic areas. It lays along the upper reaches of the Fu River, which is the home to Tibetan, Qiang and Hui ethnicities. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, the valley’s scenery is punctuated by snow-capped peaks, deep gorges, waterfalls and hot springs. However, what makes it the most remarkable are the several colorful pools and whitewater terraces formed by Calcite deposits that are dotted throughout the park. It also features tremendous plant and animal life, with over 1500 species of plants, 183 species of birds, and 109 species of invertebrates living within the boundaries. This includes several endangered species such as the Giant Panda and Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey.
