There are a few items you will want to be sure to bring in order to best prepare for the altitude, strong sun, and other activities in Yunnan and Sichuan. As temperatures are rather comfortable year-round in Yunnan and quite seasonal in Sichuan, we will recommend different packing lists for different trips. However, you should always be sure to bring:

• Camera
• Sunscreen
• Moisturizer
• Feminine hygiene products
• Sunglasses
• Solid hiking or walking shoes and hiking socks, especially for those on a hiking trip
• A day/overnight bag or backpack
• Umbrella or light rain coat
• Small flashlight
• Extra batteries for your camera (quality batteries)
• Photocopy of your passport and your Chinese Visa page
• Any required medications

The following items are recommended:

• Binoculars
• Mandarin Phrasebook (should you wish to learn some Chinese during your visit)
• Extra film (memory cards)
